Hi, I'm thinking of fiiting 19" rims and wondered if anyone has done the same and if so have they had any problems?

Also are there any number plate suppliers who could incorporate the porsche shield logo assuming of course that this would be legal?

From what I have read (although I don't have personal hands on experience!) the 19 inch wheels look great but detrimentaly affect handling, taking away adjustability, increasing tram lining & giving a harsher ride !! If it was me I'd stick to 18's, but if you do go for 19's make sure you can get Porsche approved N rated tyres. Having said this Porsche's new 997 is supposed to feature a 19 inch option, so maybe they have developed the tyres/chassis for the new models.

Many thanks for your comments which echoed similar advice. Your comment was interesting as well from the point of view of "N" rated tyres as I didn't know, until I came to change the wheels yeserday, that I was running on rear tyres that didn't have an "N" rating atall.
Yet another point to watch for when buying a previously owned vehicle!

As Porsche currently do not have 19" tyres as an option, I really doubt you will find n-rated tyres in 19" sizes.

As Grant says, this will likely change when the 997 is launched.

Howie, what wheels did you go for & what Porker will they be taking pride of place on ?

I purchased a 996 cabrio and then traded the turbo styled wheels in for the 18" sports design complete with new tyres from "Porsche-Apart" who are in Ramsbottom, Lancs. their service was excellant.

Tasty choice in wheels Howie.
I agree with you about porsch-apart, we met & purchased some goodies from them at Eynsham, very helpful, friendly & flexible team.
