Wheel Spacers

Hi,

I have noticed from Mark Bennet's excellent "Ultimate Owner Guide" that I received for Christams that some special edition Boxster models have 5mm wheel spacers fitted. Are these just for cosmetic effect or do they affect/improve handling? If not too expensive I would consider fitting to my 2002 Boxster S that has 18" Turbo alloys. Does anyone have any experience of wheel spacers? If not advisable I will steer clear.

Thanks for any advice.

Theyt widen the track by 10mm so they do affect handling slightly. You would only notice on track in reality. They do make the wheels fill the wheel arches better so cosmetically they look good. Depends if you wnat to spend the money on them. you get 4 wheel spacers and 4 sets of wheel bolts including the locking ones in the pack. For around £150 to £200 from your OPC from memory. I have them so they must be good! LOL.

I had a special edition 986 550 3.2 spyder with the spacers 10ml fitted as standard fit and 18inch wheels lowered suspension by 5ml and personally found it a harsh ride felt every bump etc .My current 987 2.7 has standard set up and 17inch wheels and far more comfortable ..just a personnel thing
