Just found these will they be ok?
7J x 17 WITH 205/50ZR17 ET 55 Front
8 1/2J x 17 WITH 255/40ZR 17 ET 50 Back
These are genuine 17" Porsche boxster wheels
Pete, you have answered your own question, but just to be sure, the answer is NO ! All the correct wheel sizes and offsets are listed in the handbook, if you haven't got one please get one, they are not too expensive as I recall.
Tyre sizes are OK, as listed in the Tech Article on N Spec ....
Rear width and offset are both incorrect - 993 17s are 7s and 9s, 55 offset F & R.
cheers, Maurice []
Hi Maurice,
I have now checked my handbook and although the rears are 9s the book states a rim offset of 70 for the rears & 55 for the fronts are you saying that the book is incorrect? Please clarify and what difference will 1/2" make on the width?? no jokes please[] also I thought that if you go down in offset there is no problem??

Oh Gawhd ... the '96 Service ~Info Technik says 55 all round ... [:'(] which sounds ok to me ... are you sure no spacers were involved in that fitment you have quoted ??
re width - !/2 " difference will be exactly that. Going down (!) in offset will effectively push the wheels out by exactly that amount .... see te 3 million other threads ... !

Hi Maurice,
Right here we go page 108 in Porsche 911 Carrera Drivers Handbook:
and I quote:
Front 205/50 ZR 17 7J x 17 H2 55mm Offset 36psi
Rear 255/40 ZR 17 9J x 17 H2 70mm Offset 36psi
Same offset if rims were 7 front & 8 rear according to the book[8|]
Please remember my car was registered 1/1/1994 if that makes a difference??
By my calculations the tyres will pertrude approx 7mm further out but traction should remain the same as tyres are the same size am I right??[]
