Wheels and spacers

I need some advice.

If my existing wheels are ET 55 and I get some wheels that have ET 30 and then a spacer of 25mm will that effectively give me wheels of ET 55?

I'm afraid not. An ET30 wheel with a 25mm spacer will give you an effective ET of 5mm!!! The spacer REDUCES the wheel offset, not increase.
