As I mean to personalise my 944S considering I failed miserably with the wife, I am looking for a set of possibly 17" alloys. A simple task I thought but I have now realised the offset on the back is different to the front on the 15" presumed standard alloys. Does this affect the choice of alloys and what profile tyre will I require?[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Thanks[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Cacwn Tew[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

On a 944S the offset should be the same, the standard wheels for that car were 7x15" phone dials with the later offset (53.2mm IIRC).

As long as you find a set of rims that are about the same offset (+/- a few mm is okay) you should be okay, although fitting the 968 castor mounts is recommended by Porsche for rims over 16" diameter.

There's early offset (23mm or so) and late offset (around 53mm). Broadly speaking the vast majority of Porsche fitment 17" wheels will fit just fine, early offset 17" rims are much less common, particularly oem ones.
