could anybody tell me if 17'' turbo style wheels from a 1990 911 turbo with 225/45 fronts 225/40 rears, fit my 924s? If I keep the origional 15'' wheels what is the widest tyres that will fit?

I've got 7" wide teledials (with 52.3mm offset, off a 944S) and 215/60 tyres. At the front the tyres are just about flush with the wing (in fact slightly proud right at the top of the wing where the panel rolls inwards). They passed an MOT like it.

The rear could take another 20mm or so of tyre width I'd guess.

I've got a chance to buy some wheels telleys off a 944 7jx 15et52.5 will these fit my 924s?

Yes, they'll fit. That's exactly what I've got, a set of a 944S.

Grab them if you can get them, they look so much better than the 6" ones. They are very slightly dished, whereas the 6" wheel has the face of the hub sticking proud of the rim, which I've always thought looked a bit weird. I'll try and dig out some photo's that show mine better.

hope to see you at the Sussex event.

That site's useful to work out what the effect will be (actually, for the same offset you just halve the width difference and that's what you'll get either side) but it doesn't actually tell you whether it'll fit the car you've got.

Tony's car should have later 52.3mm offset - Tone, if you get a chance before you buy the others, whip one of the wheels off and double -check the offset which is cast inside the rim - I'd hate you to buy something that doesn't fit on my say-so.

Actually I've got a spare 7x15 teledial (narrow offset so no good to me) in the garage. I'll take a pic tonight and show you what you're looking for. Anyone want a solitary 7x15ET22.3 teledial - in Graphite Grey of course, coz that's the way I like them.... [;)]

cheers ....... Phil

hmmmmm.....pictures of the wheels on the car didn't really work because it was raining so I took them in the garage - too dark [8|]

But here's where to look for the offset. At about 2 o'clock you'll see 7X15ET23.3. Check what yours are. The '7' is a bit grubby butit is there.

And now to compare 7" wide with ET23.3 with ET52.3.

These are ET23.3 (shallow offset so the rim sticks out further (or to think of it another way, the hub is inset further - or offset less - funny that [;)])

This are ET53.3 (deep offset so the rim is about flush with the hub. Again, compare to a picture of 6" ET53.3 (no I haven't got one) and you'll see the hub is proud of the rim.

And that's your lot for today....[:)]

cheers .......... Phil

The offset is in millimetres so we're only talking of 0.2mm difference. I just checked in the drivers manual though and it's 52.3 officially.

My tyres are 215/60's (look in 3rd photo) and they seem fine. That's what came on the rims when I bought them.

Phil, I have bought those set of wheels, on ebay for £58 and they look in good knick!!! what a result! I'll see you on the 5th. My 924s is silver and I hope to meet you then. Thanks again for all your help.[:D]

Unfortunately I'll be there but the car won't. I'll look out for you and come and say hello.

Phil

Hi Phil, Yes I've got the wheels, had to have them refurbed at a place in Hertfordshire, they did a great job, cost £100. I'm still not sure about tyres, how about 215/60 on front and 225/60 on rear, what do you think?
