hi guys just got 91 c4 had 17"cup 1s on changed them today to cup 2 same size tyres 255/40/17 and they are catchin both sides at the back?????strong smell of burnin rubber am i wrong in thinkin that the cup2s were avalilable on this model???cheers walt

Walt,

It depends what offset (ET) the new wheels are. To be sure they are compatible you need all three dimensions - i.e. diameter x width x offset. Many of the later cars which had Cup 2s will have different offsets to the 964 (standard offset is 52.3mm) and will place the body of the tyre in the wrong place relative to the axle axis and wheel well. The dimensions of the wheels may be on the rim (if they are original Porsche) or cast inside the wheel.

Regards

Dave

I'll 2nd what Dave has said. Be very carefull with wheel rub on the inside of the right rear arch - you'll be rubbing against an oil line & the last thing you'll want to do is wear through it!! You "may"be able to get away with some spacers to adjust the offset so they don't rub.
