I currently run mine on BBS magnesium wheels (in gold for max chav effect) which compared to the speedline boat anchors that it came on and which veg out in the corner of the garage , feel incredibly light.

Does anyone know the respective weights of the wheels ? i am sure the info is on the net but if someone else has done the leg work...

The standard Speedline wheels are 12.5kg frt and 13.5 kg rear. Can't remember the exact weight but I remember saving about 16kg from changing the wheels to the Alu centre ones, which is almost the same weight as the mag ones. Bit saving on un-sprung weight. Which begs the question, why did Porsche use one of the heaviest wheels in Porsche range on the light weight car????
 
Thanks for that; I am with you. The Speedlines look quite nice but are heavy in the way a cheap aftermarket wheel is! Given the lengths they went to to lighten the thing generally why then put on wheels of lead? Even the 964RS had mag wheels. Porsche never cease to amaze me with the ying and yang of great and rubbish features on their vehicles. Which turkey came up with the wizard idea to engineer the heat exchangers to be shaped to foul the lower suspension arm bolt without lifting the engine? Who determines Porsche bolts will be made of cheese, particularly in hard to get areas?
 
I chose the BBS magnesium jobs as they are light and sadly for me they are an iconic thing! I understand they are now out of production. To my mind the change was about saving weight for track use. I don't use it in winter/ wet too much so the impracticality of a race wheel (magnesium and unfinished alluminium none to durable) did not bother me. The ones I bought were not concours as I think track use messes wheels up anyway with regular tyre changes and attack from debris on track. I understand lots of aftermarket stuff is quite heavy too and I think generally you get what you pay for. Jasmine motorsport are a good place to ask for advice. Brian Goff knowlegeable and friendly.
 
Apart from the spedlines, my spare set of wheels are Porsche 996 02 wheels, also made by BBS...a single piece wheel that is very light, maintenance free with easy access to to view and clean the discs and hopefully strong enough, as despite being light, they came from a lardy 996!....more than happy with them. Not being original fitment, they also make my car look like a recreation or replica... which is nice! [:D]

Two good options, thanks. I also prefer the traditional BBS look --- in what sizes ? Had a Boxster with the 5 spoke 996 wheels on, -- very easy to look after and good looking ! But not traditional ?? ---- Now you see why I was asking about wheels ---- !

I can help you with the sunroof, carpet, electric windows, mirrors and central locking if it helps you create that true "recreation" ......... [:D]
 
Paul, thanks for the offer, enough of the experts are convinced mine is a rep as it is!...was quite amusing in the Kent PCGB meet car park! [:D] Such luxury items would be a waste on my simple tastes!
 
I thought as the clubsport did not have air con to save weight and gain a little power, the factory fitted sunroofs to keep the driver cool instead ? [:D] That's what the bloke I bought it from said anyway .......

Richard, do you have any pics of the BBS on the car please as I have a set which need a refurb and am itching to see what a 993 looks like on the BBS. ta mik
