Wheels

I think I must be in a minority of one in having a 993 with 16" wheels. I thought they were OK until I got on this forum!![8|] Mine is a 1996 C4 T-model year.

Anyway Simon from Redline Racing has been tempting me with some very nice 18" RS Wheels, but I am hanging back at present till the tyres need replacing and my wallet feels less persecuted.

I hear various views about 17" versus 18" wheels - what should I go for?

Also I would prefer to keep originality +/- i,e. approved options for wheel upgrades.
Where is a good place to find out what wheel styles are suitable etc etc and a good place to buy them?

Are there any associated modifications /adjustments needed when fitting larger wheels i.e suspension changes .

Advice and opinions much appreciated.

Hi Maurice,

thanks for the speedy reply (i had posted on another forum to and they give me a link to a online calculation tool, it came up with similar answers to yours)

about 1.8 - 1.9 cm front and rear.

I know that the 996 turbo rims will fit and they are 11 inch rear, it could be a little hard to trial fit

Does anybody on here run slightly wider rims? if so what would be the max i could go to?

thanks

John

yep rears would stick out 19mm further and in 7mm further.
fronts stick out 18mm but would have 6mm more inner clearance!

measure what clearance your current wheels have. You could always roll the arches!
