When did it all start?

"A Chariot of Lightness and Speed will be begat from great Teutonic wisdom and skill ... it will enlighten Men to the power, truth and stiffness" for this is the word of The Leicthbau ......
It is obviously the fore warning of the 964RS many scholar have confirmed[]
do you have a copy you could send me please []
Jason, will that help? - car on the stand may not have been more than a mock up, earliest car reg. seems to be BB PW 826 which was the blue one in all the press pics - but the rubystone one Jerry Sloniger tested in Aug. '91 which still had more than a hint of pre pod. about it: proper foglights, offset Carrera badge (no RS), Carrera 2 door cards (but RS door fittings). So maybe it's the chassis number of that car we need!

Maybe Martin can offer more information on this.
But the known 993RS factory test car (again mine) has the Vin number ending 90009 ... registered November 1994 in Germany, though a RHD car.
It's also known that chassis numbers have been held in reserve ... but were these complete numbered shells that were used for re-shells, or ?
I recall seeing a 993 Cup car with no shell number on the rear parcel shelf ... ??
Hugh, apparently originally 150 was the idea, but such was demand they built at least 100 more for race teams, there well may be unused last few chassis at the factory waiting to be activated but 290 certainly the official end of the sequence, maybe some ended up in the later 3.8RS/R ..... who knows ...... but very desirable this very limited edition of the 964RS.
Yours is one of the original homologation cars Hugh as where the first 1000 RS Lightweights .....

I have even learnt that cars beyond those stored on the Porsche database exist. For instance, I have details and photos (inc chassis plates) of 2 widebody 3.8 RSRs that are beyond the build numbers quoted. The 'real' amount of cars built will never be known by the likes of us mere mortals.
Look at the C4 Lightweight for instance. They ended up building an extra 2 cars after the run of 20 was completed. All you need is enough cash! []
