When is a Approved Use 997 not approved

Purchased my 997s last November and done just under 2000 mile so far (I know too much time at work and not enough play). Anyway its been back to the dealer on numerous occasions for mainly paint work that did not come up to scratch.

In the last three months I have found a paint defect on the near side door that the body-shop say has been on the vehicle since new however as the paint warranty ran out in April Porsche UK have refused the claim.

Last month I took the car out in the dark for the 1st time (no Halloween cracks please) and it was parked under a sodium lamp. The front off side wing is clearly a different shade to the vehicle. Now the approved body-shop say this would not happen if re-finished to Porsche standards, on speaking to the first owner I have been told that damage had been caused to the front near side and that the dealer was made aware.

So when is an approved used Porsche not approved ? when its had work carried out by a non approved repairer !!

Colour match on the PU's (front and rear plastic bumbers) is often not great. Perhaps a different paint is used for plastic as apposed to metal?
As for "approved", that only means that an official Porsche centre is the seller.
BUT it should still be of merchantable quality. And that should include the paint finish.

Sadly, I've been through this on both ends of my car this last year [:(]

The front was resprayed and they admitted that the colour was different, no problems from the paintshop and all is happy..

The rear was a different paintshop and insisted it done the 'Porsche official way' this is to blow in the panels nearest to the PU, considering I had a small dink in the numberplate area of my car and then see on the quote for removal of rear windows and seats!! I was a little shocked...!!
However the finish and match is excellent in all fairness to them...

The guys who did the front were asked by myself not to have to blow in the front wings and bonnet which did make the job harder for them.. as I said they have done a great job at possibly a quarter of the cost of the 'Porsche official way' and one that left much of my original paint intact.

Pikeynet- I'd suggest that was not done the 'official Porsche way' [&:] [;)]
