When to replace spark plugs & change brake fluid ?

I'm due for a Major Service in a couple of weeks and the OPC has sent the usual list of extras that they suggest I pay for.

Apart from the fact that I would consider spark plugs, air bag check, brake fluid change and belt checks to be standard service items and not extra's [], please may I ask for your collective wisdom and feedback on when or why spark plugs should be replaced and brake fluid renewed?

Plugs were last changed in 2010 at 16000, now I'm at 33,000 miles, so averaging 4000 miles per year. OPC are quoting £170 for plugs and £150 for brake fluid.

Oh ... and Tyre Sealant Replacement - £60 :ROFLMAO: ...I don't think so !

I'd do my plugs/brake fluid every 3 years/30,000 miles. The worst thing about doing the fluid, is that the nipples might snap off. :)

You do the plugs every 4 years, you don't want a seized plug,

Brake fluid every 2 years.

Like you Adam, I can't understand why Porsche can't quote an inclusive price for their servicing. By having add-ons like brake fluid change, plugs, etc., it makes the headline prices cheaper.

I'd agree with Mr D. I think it's worth having the plugs changed every 4 years, if only to ensure that they haven't seized.

And when they get the car and service it you will get the traditional recommendation to change the worn out brake disks and pads - seems to be a focus of OPCs, you are far better using a Porsche indy unless the car is on extended warranty with Porsche.
You can of course use an indy even whilst Porsche warranty is extant but if they don't use Porsche approved parts the OPC will void the warranty - and that includes non warranty items like wiper blades - its barmy!

Plugs are an easy DIY job, bit fiddly and time consuming but nothing complicated, you can get all 6 plugs for £30, Fluid change - another easy job and done for £10s worth of fluid.

Thanks all, for your suggestions. I have decided to get the plugs and brake fluid changed during the service...I am still under the Porsche Warranty and am not aware of a good independent nearby (Guildford area,) nor do I have the space/tools to do the job myself, so this time the OPC will win out.
