Hi All,

What seems to be the favoured colours of the 996 ?

From what's on sale at the moment it looks as though the 996 followed the trend of the day for silver and black

From the launch brochure there was a wide selection:

Standard Exterior:
Black
Guards Red
Pastel Yellow
Glacier White

Optional Exterior:
Ocean Blue Metallic
Black Metallic
Arena Red Metallic
Vesuvio Metallic
Arctic Silver
Zenith Blue Metallic

Interior Leather:

Black
Metropol Blue
Savanna Beige
Graphite Grey
Space Grey

I know its personel choice - but the majority of 996's (Cabriolets at least) that I'm looking at... seem to be Black or Silver with a few Blue ones out there.

Have I missed some colours ?

Whats the ideal combo exterior colour/leather?

Thoughts.....

You've missed quite a few colours!

Silver and black tend to be the 'safe' colours when it comes to resale, so I think that is why there are more of those. Ocean Jade, for example, is an acquired taste.

Thanks Richard - A great link...

Have you got information on which wheels/alloys were standard/optional ?

Thanks in advance

Greg

More info on colours for the early cars: https://www.porscheclubgb.com/legacy/clientftp/Register/996/faq_colours_1999.pdf

I don't have any specific info on wheels, but the early technical bulletins show tyre sizes, wheel dimensions, and some drawings of the various wheel options. If you drop me an email (link under my avatar) I'll attach it to a reply.

You need to upload a pic to show us.

Maybe we should upload a pic of each colour available? I'll start it with probably the most common colour.....

Arctic Silver:
