Where can I check my car's BHP?

Hello,

I own a 993 Targa 1997 manufactured.

I want to find out its current BHP. If it has lost some due to its age, I would like to have the car tweaked to return it to its
original former self!

I live in Melton Mowbray.

Any suggestions please would be most welcome.

Many thanks

Robin

You could go to somewhere like Ninemister - a bunch of 993 folk went there on a Saturday a couple of years ago - it was a really good day. They have a dyno which checks the BHP and they know what they are doing so can (and did on day) find and fix some things.

Check out the "top" threads in this 993 forum area for discussion on the day.

Quite a way from you - but worth the drive. My point being that they have the equipment and knowledge to do what you want. You may find a dyno quite close but all that will tell you is "something wrong" or "seems about right".

Most of our cars seemed to be benefiting from being properly run-in now[:)]

Wayne Schofield at Chip Wizards in Milnrow near Rochdale has one of the most accurate dynos in the UK and he is a genius at increasing the power of a 993. Mine went from 281 bhp as standard to 288 with new mufflers and a 100 cell cat. After Wayne did a remap I'm now at 309 bhp and 275 lb/ft!

Run a search on here and 911uk.com if you want to check out Wayne's results.

Many thanks.

Both sound really good. If there isn't a tuner near to Leicestershire then I will travel to one of those suggested.

Regards

Robin

IME dynos often produce surprisingly healthy results.

So, either Porsche understate their figures, or the dynos are optimistically calibrated.
