Where do you think this oil is coming from?

Under my car at the weekend and spotted these 3 very dark patches of oil around the exhaust on one side. Any ideas where it might be coming from. Also the engine was rebuilt 12k miles ago and had an oil change every year since so bit surprised that it looks so black. The oil dripping from crank case is a much nicer new oil like colour. Do you think it could be old oil and i just clean off and see if it comes back or any other thoughts what would have caused it.

Thanks
Stephen

Btw if it is the head-gasket leaking anything to be worried about? Doesnt seem to be too much oil so hoping it could wait a year (or so) till my next major service as i’ll need valves adjusted next year anyway.

Technically it shouldn't leak ;-) perhaps when the values are next checked the head bolts are checked and tightened . What you don't want is oil running down the exhaust manifolds as it will smoke and smell etc

Depending on the engines year, Porsche updated the heads with a gasket seal , older engines didn't have the seal so a lot get modified when rebuilt to accept a seal .

Perhaps clean it off with brake cleaner , monitor and get the head bolts checked
