Where is best to locate dashmounted Speed Detector?

I have just ordered a Micro Road Pilot. The fitter has suggested it will fit nicely near the driver side air vent (below the dashtop). This would make it discreet and not advertise to thieves that I have another piece of equipment.

My question is, would I be better locating it on top of the dash above the instruments so I could notice visual alarms more easily? What do you guys do?[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

Had similar dilema fitting Origin B2 into my 993. Spent days looking at all options (Mr Fussy) and finally opted to mount it just slightly to the left of centre of the air vent you describe. Sits neatly and securely on top of the rolled padded bottom edge. Clearly visible and doesn't look like something that's just been added on. Doesn't interfere with light switch etc. Easy to hide wiring etc as well and doesn't restrict air vent.

Thanks Mike, that's very helpful. Do you find its good there? Or do you wish it was higher up for line of sight?

Hi - looks good - how critical is it to be able to see the display quickly - is there a voice warning also?

Thanks for the photo

They do have audible warning as well, but this is from the unit (not the stereo speakers) so may not be that loud if you're listening to music. That's why I'm asking about being able to see it easily...

I find the audible on the B2 very good. It gives red flashing warning as well. Although not in direct line of sight it is impossible not to pick up the warning with peripheral vision.
