Where is the alarm Key Switch located on a 993 TT ??

HELP PLEASE!

Reaching out to anyone with a UK market TT:

I have tried without luck to find the shut-off key switch for the alarm system on my TT. I assume the alarm system it is the reguler item supplied with the car from new - the handsets are single-button / PA100 items. I have the alarm key but have had no success in actually locating the unit and the assoicated key switch.

I'm sure it's going to turn out to be really obvious and i'll feel a bit of an idiot for asking, but so far it has completely elluded me!
Luckily there is no problem with the system right now, but i don't like not-knowing something i may need to...

I understand non-Turbo 993s have the system in the engine bay, but on the TT there is almost no access to anything on account of the huge intercooler, so i am really hoping it is soemwhere else!

all the best

tim

PS posted same request on 911 forum (in case this seems a familiar request to some of you), but no 'it is precisely here' responses just yet

Tim,

I thought it was located near the fuel tank. Pull back the carpet in the front storage area and you should see the main device and the various modules.

Tim, mine is in the engine bay on the n/s under the intercooler, I have to take the key off the keyring as I can only just get my hand in.

William - Thanks for the reply: Iremoved the carpet compltely and had a look around, but could see anything that's obviously alarm related... Can you be more precise on location / colour / shape of unit?

David - Thanks also for replying. I had a really good look with a torch and cannot see anything under the intercooler!

I have not managed to find a photograph of the unit in situ - so it could be that i simply don't know what i'm looking for.

I wonder also if it changed over the years of production? I notice your car is a '97 - so maybe a newer unit and located in a new place? My car is a MY96 registered in 95, PA100 handsets and I have (what I am told is) the alarm switch key!

I'm going to have another search tomorrow - and try under the seats, in case it's there. I can't believe it is proving so illusive!!

regards to all

tim

PS it's not this thing is it (marked with an X, but no key hole that i can find)

I have just found it! The key switch is located at the front of the inside seat runner on the drivers side. Quite sensible actually. From the other posts it sounds like the location is car / MY dependant.

thanks again to all
