Where is the best place to sell.

What do you guys think.

With the arrival of a new baby in Sept i have to bite the bullit and sell up my pride and joy.

I am not sure the usual Autotrader is the way to go for such a specilised car as this.

Any suggestions?

I will definatly be looking for the higher end of the price bracket, considering the condition, mileage and spec of the car.

Really dont want to sell, especially after spending all winter refurbing the brakes and other bits but i guess thats life.

When I bought mine, I was looking at:-

Autotrader Online
911 & Porsche World
Porsche Post

I never bought an Autotrader mag at the time, as I suspected there wasn't alot for sale locally, but online you can choose the distance to travel. I found mine in PP, so that gets my top vote!

I had a budget in mind when buying (13K) for either a 944T or a 968, but ended up spending less.

Good luck - I hope you get what you want for it!

This was just posted on Titanic:

Hi All,
I am seeking to buy a 944 Turbo please. I've recently had a 1991 944 Turbo Cabriolet so would like a similar spec Coupe. i.e. 250bhp, LSD, A/C, Leather seats etc. Condition is more important than colour - but not white please. If anyone has one or knows of one please let me know - thanks.

Berni Cashin

I'll PM you the email address.

Cheers,

Jim.

Cheers guys, its a sad day indeed, as the car is running probablly better than at any point in it life. Was out for a short run on Friday and the performance is quite stunning. The brakes are not really bedded in yet and slow the car like its hit a wall.

Hope to atlest get a nother month or two before it finally goes, really wanted to get to the ring at some point this summer too.

It might take all year to find the right person (he secretly hopes, just dont tell the wife!!!)

He just replied - he wants a sunroof and his budget is £10k so no good for the SBF monster.

Something to do with his dog. I guess he wants to be able to leave the dog in it.

**king dog, FFS hes not getting mine nyway, no way i am haveing some dog sit in the car all day cr@pping on the leather and slobbering all over the dash... I barely let any other humans near the car let alone a dog......

I think you are going to have to get to the point, as you do when trying to sell houses, that it isn't yours anymore. If you don't get to this point I wouldn't bother to start to try to sell it as you'll just waste other peoples time and cause yourself a lot of angst.

You might be right there Paul, but considering its only just back on the road from winter, and i have only done 80miles in it, thats not so easy.[8D]

I have no doubt as the wife gets fatter then it will become more apparent what has to happen, just had to stick a deposit on a load of Mammas and Pappas bedroom furniture, bloomin cost more than the stuff in our bedroom...!!!!!

From experience i know it can take quite a few goes in the autotrader before you get riid of all the time wasters etc, this can take quite a few months, point of the post was to see if there are better ways of hunting donw prospective 944 purchasers.....

La la la la ... [:)]

How the hell will the dog be able to use the sunroof?

It's hard enough removing the sodding thing with hands, let alone paws!

Oh, and it's not fat, it's pregnant (very important to not get that bit mixed up[;)])

Cheers

Don't get me wrong: you have my sympathies. Is there not some other option like getting a second job or selling a kidney or something?

lolss i have had a second job for the past 5 years, but then you have even less time so its been dropped. The kidney is an idea, wonder whats the going rate on E-bay these days lolssss. Time is as much of an issue too, no point in having the car sitting on the drive doing nothing apart from rotting away, better off with someone who will use it as it should be....

I think he has just sold a rather nice turbo cab,

To get back to the point of the post, ignoring baby references etc. [;)]

IMHO, if you can make a sale, you will get the best price and the best buyers in Porsche Post.

Next would be 911&PW.

Don't forget GTPP. Although it's not as readily available there are less cars advertised so less competition, and less to make yours seem expensive.

Local, non specialist and Autotrader will get you more exposure. As you are looking for top price you shouldn't get too many tyre kickers who just want to drive a 944 Turbo.

On no account take any notice of those who phone up promising sellective car placement with several potential purchasers on their books waiting to look at your car. They are lying barstools. I got caught, paid up, and heared nothing from anybody. It is a big con and shouldn't be encouraged. In fact, when they phone be rude to them - and then let me know that you have, it'll make me feel a little better.

I hate selling cars, you get to meet such obnoxious people.
