Where is the fuel pump on an S2 ?

My S2 is not starting and I am pretty sure that it is the fuel pump that's at fault.
Pump Fuse is ok when I replace the fuse with the ignition on I cannot hear a relay or the pump ? It did try to catch when I turned it over this morning on full throttle but died immediately just like a fuel shortage.
I thought I'd give the pump a tap but can't see it. Exactly where is it near the tank.? which side and before or behind the rear wheel?

will I need a ramp or axle stands to get at it ?

I think its underneath on the back right side before the wheel ..The best way to get at it is with the back wheel off. Best to use stands or lift ....Its there on mine .. but that could be all wrong given mine is a US Turbo '87... According to PET diagram 9442 MY91 201-12 there are 2 filters one before the pump 928 201 084 04 and one after 928 110 253 00 ..The pump is wrapped up in a protective shield . Thats interesting...... I am open for correction on this BTW [&:]

Have you checked the DME Relay isn't faulty?
yep DME relay is fine.
However the only thing I have touched on the car lately is the fuse box when I tried to remove the fan fuse . I nearly yanked the fuse/relay tray out . I wonder if I might have disturbed something. Cars don't often suddenly just stop starting without some warning.

If you remove the glovebox you can get to the underside of the fusebox but access is really tight.

If you have recently run low on fuel it could just be a blocked fuel filter.
