Where to buy warranty?

maybe

New member
I am getting closer to buying a used Boxster, and was wondering what people did regarding a warranty? I understand that Porsche charge about £800, but is there a cheaper alternative for a low mileage 2005 year car? Or do I simply take the risk?

You also have to pay about £180+vat £36=£216 for the 111 point check to see if they will cover it. You will only be able to do it for a further year or possibly two due to it being an eight year old car.

So if you are insuring against a catastrophic failure i.e.engine failure well they are generally c£4-5k +vat to repair then you need to way up the risk yourself. If its against clutch, brakes these are unlikely to be covered due to "fair wear and tear" clauses.

Good. Luck.

And to qualify for OPC warranty the car must be completely original Porsche parts including items they dont cover under the warranty, so, If you have a replacement battery that is not a Porsche Moll battery you will need to change it to qualify - that alone is over £300 when a much better battery (Bosch is under £100), wiper blades - yep change those too.
You will find the 111 point check will produce a massive bill simply to return everything to original, plus the £200 or so for the check, plus over £1000 for 1 year warranty - think its worth it - think again - go get warranty wise or some other after market product.
However if you buy from OPC everything will be original and warranty is included - but you pay the price on the purchase.

Good luck in your search for the right car

Should have bought mine everything was original [:D][:D]
Go for a independent company Warranty Wise get a good reputation I would not spend that kind of money on a Porsche warranty on a 2005 as you will have no idea as to what and what is not original on the car .
Hope you wife enjoys her new car.

Hi Brian.
You car was not only in exceptional condition, but was a good price too, and I would have had it like a shot except that the wife particularly wants heated seats!
I have been offered another lovely car, with the all important heated seats, which I am very seriously considering. Will let everybody know the outcome.
In the meantime I have decided the Porsche warranty is really to expensive for a car worth less than £15k. And having looked at the RAC warranty, it strikes me its not worth the paper its written on!

Why not try UVW [Used Vehicle Warranty] as advertised on the Clubs website homepage.

I know a number of members, including two directors, who have had some excellent quotes and taken up the offer. They even do wear and tear items too.

For my 911 I was quoted about £1200 for two years and the inspection was free.

My warranty with UVW cost me £800 for two years on my 997 S2 Cab. It includes OPC repairs and labour charges. The inspection was free. All details are on the Club website,

I am obviously being thick, because I can't see them! Is it possible that somebody could send me a link? I have phoned them and got a quote of £500 which seems just on the high end of being reasonable. I wondered if there was a memebers discount code? and I wondered if the price fluctuates if you have to claim?
