Where to get alpine white

Hello everyone,

I'm looking to retouch some of my 951's alpine white paintwork and am having a bit of trouble getting hold of the right colour - any ideas?

I think I'm ideally looking for spray...

Looking online I've come across alpine white for a few other makes (I think VW and citroen)

Most Porsche colours are VW/Audi colours. Code for Alpine white is L90E.

I'm running an alpine white S2 and got mine from an OPC,just get them to send it to you if it's far away only cost a few quid (about £6) two years ago, take your time when applying and build it up, good luck

Any independant automotive paint suppliers should be able to make you up an aerosol can. I had a large can done a couple of months ago for around £9.00. Be advised though there are about 5 or 6 shades of Alpine white L90E believe it or not! and yes it is a VW colour.

im pretty sure on the different shades of Alpine white, i bought some in a pot and in a can and theyre different colours im sure of it. The can is slightly yellower and the pot is slightly blue-er (if that makes sense). The pot seems to match my bonnet best and the can my nose panel. Weird but true.

I needed to do a small area of the front spoiler on an '82 Alpine White 924 and actually used a BMW Alpine White aerosol by Hycote. Very, very close - maybe a tad more creamy but perfect for inconspicuous areas.

While searching for a paint supplier recently I came across two shades of Alpine White listed in the Porsche colour catalog, one originating from '86, another in '87.
That's not to say the Alpine White on an '86 car will be different than on an '87, it's only that different shades were used at the factory depending I believe on who the paint supplier was.

Most automotive paints come in various different shades of the same colour which is why most people struggle to get a match when they buy a touch up stick or aerosol from paint suppliers. The Dupont paint system I use actually has EIGHT different formulae for L90E Alpinewhite. Among the alternatives are: darker, lighter, bluer, less blue, less yellow etc

That's actually pretty unusual for Porsche/VW/Audi colours as they generally only have lighter or darker to choose from. French cars seem to be the worst and often have over 10 alternative shades of some godawful putrid silvery colour [:D]
