Where to get work done?

Big Les

New member
Now the winters here and the 944 is off the road I want to get the brakes and suspension sorted out. - ARB bushes, knocking ball joint on front offside, new discs and pads all round and probably new brake flexi pipes all round, new shocks and maybe springs all round (cars been tramlining). I'd like to do it myself but I don't have a garage big enough (wide enough) to access the car properly. Can anyone recommend a garage that can do these jobs near Chichester, Sussex?

Hi Les, I can think of a couple of places but they're not that close to Chichester.

Jota Engineering (Gatwick area) could help, or Parr in Crawley. I've put a link onto the R23 Forum to see if anyone else has a recommendation.

Camtune in Godalming - good on 944s and they will give you a courtesy car if you give them notice

Fen,

Why do say this? Got me v worried

I used them in Feb and they seemed very good and helpful. They did seem to want to change/update everything generally things you can do yourself, ie wipers and air filters but I expect every garage to do that. All in all they did everything I asked, which I thought was great.

Is there anyone else in the surrey area you know of that's good, ta

I have looked at a couple of cars they had "prepared" for sale and I have heard only bad things about them from other 944 people. I haven't used them for reason 1 above.

You would be surprised what you can get done in a narrow garage. i undertook similar work last year in garage with approx 12" either side of the car. Not easy but do-able.

Without a doubt I would recommend Jon Mitchell in Bournemouth. He's an absolute 944 expert and he's only about an hour away from you.

Wait until he's finished my engine first though [:)]

Thanks for all the info so far. I have sent an e-mail to Jon Mitchell in Bournemouth, and I'll do the same to the two above if I can get some contact details from someone.

Jota, Paul Sage, 01293 775550. Not used nim myself but other local owners have with good reports. Chap with a 944 Turbo rates him highly for all work.

Parr, www.parr-uk.co.uk. Have done all of my servicing, geometry etc, not one of the cheapest but top class. Don't be put off by all the GT3's hanging around outside [&:]
