I am curious to know how many 44's there are still out there and where they are distributed whether running or not. Is there a current 944 Register ?
Could everyone add which models they have and the Town or city and County they reside in. It could be useful to both new and existing members that require help with faults or advice regarding purchase etc.
I'll start the ball rolling

Is there a current 944 Register

Ask the Register Secretary......[;)]

I have a database that holds details of every member's car, from chassis number to wheel style and interior trim. Assuming they update the Club of any changes it is a very useful asset. As an example I used it to pull a list of all the 1982 cars for last year's Silverstone birthday line-up, and could invite them to come and display their cars.

There are around 1300 members of the 944 Register, enough for me to deal with so I've no plans to start including non-member's details as well. This might work for a small register such as Speedster or 924 Carrera GT, but I'd imagine there must be at least 10000 944s in the UK and I do want to keep some sort of a life! []

Paul, my car has a register sticker from a previous life, but how do I add it to the register now?

Thanks

Any change of details, such as new e-mail address or new car, just ring the Club office and they'll update the records. I used to do it seperately, but not once I found out I could get updates from the office.....

10,000 944's in the UK?

That's quite a lot. They are a pretty rare sight on the roads - I think I've seen another 944 about 6 times in regular driving since I bought mine (2 years ago.) And that's doing about 15k miles/yr in mine.

Maybe a lot of owners have them as second cars and they do small milages.

Oli.

10,000 944's in the UK?

Absolute pure guesstimate. With about 1300 in the PCGB, at least the same non-members but regulars here, Tipec or Titanic thats about 2500 enthusiasts. Got to be three unloved cars to every loved one, or off road, or owners who just treat them as cars, not anything special. Hence, 10000 as a rough guess.

Anyone know a more accurate figure? [&:]

10,000 944's in the UK?

Thats a brave number of survivors .... In Ireland here they are a very rare sight indeed.... I think its down to the '80s slump that this country had. In this area Donegal/Galway there are about 20 or so that I have come across in my time. There are a few in Northern Ireland. I would take an educated guess that there are about 50-70 944's in this country judging on what I have seen on the roads/shows... PCI had 34 members with 944's in 2005 - I dont know if that is still the case...! [&:]

Register only shows 3 944s in NI. I'd allow a couple more, as a lot of members have more than one car but only tell the Club about one. Still might not be enough for your own National event, though....[8|]

Since I've had mine, which I use as a daily driver, I haven't seen one single other example. Coventry must be a 944 no-go zone. (Well it's a no-go zone in its own right, I suppose [:'(])

[:D][:D][:D] We wont have much problems with parking space you are telling me so Paul. [;)]

i see a few round cannock area (in staffordshire) the was a white turbo down halfords on the weekend, i have two black 944's one on the road one off, and my little brother has a red one. so look out for a black and a red driving around the cannock area and you know it is me and my bro out for a play!!

I seem to remember someone in the FTO OC getting info on FTO numbers in the UK from the DVLA. Although it wasn't very accurate with them being Jap imports - The FTO not being a UK model, the DVLA has them under various generic names: 'Mitsubishi Coupe', or just 'Mitsubishi' for example!

Shouldn't have any problems getting 944 figures though I would have thought.

Cheers,
Robbo

How many 944S2's on the road in the UK??? Is it possible to ger such information from DVLA?

think I read somewhere that there were less than 5000 S2's supplied to the UK . Can't be may of them left. I think the estimate of 10.000 in addition to the register is a tad optimistic frankly.

I used to be a member for many years in the 90's but frankly I found it to be an expensive luxury with little of interest or suport for the 944 owner and that was 11 years back !

Anyway everyone seems to be saying its not worth spending 30 seconds just typing the model of your car and area here ?! shame...my intention was to try and form a small database of owners that were willing to offer servicing and buying help and advice to other members in their area.

You're right, Peanut, less than 5000 (S2) made it to these shores. As you say, does no harm to enter your info here - nobody's asking anyone to collate it or anything.

me: 1991 S2, Coventry.

I tried recently to get everyone to add location to their profile. Model in signature would also be helpful when we get the "where could I get a part locally" and we have to ask "for what car" and "where are you"!

I've never really liked the idea of a recommended supplier list, as for every good experience there will be someone else who swears they are the worst con-men out there. What does everyone else think?

PS - I'm from Hertfordshire, as in profile! Another thing to change if I move.....[]

Paul perhaps we could make another request for members to add their model and location to their profile

You just did......[:)]

Proposed by Peanut and seconded by me. It would really help us if you had your location, county will do, and model of car in your profile or signature!

Thank you!
