Which 964 Celebration to go for??????

This is one of those price versus mileage conundrums.

I would rather spend less of course but 36,000 kms is a low mileage and is the car I would prefer to own.

Any advice would be welcome.

K reg in Viola metallic with dark grey hide trim, number 480, with service history and only 36000 kms. This is a right hand drive car from new, and was imported from Hong Kong 8 years ago, and has been owned by the same lady who imported it. The condition is lovely and has the benefit of a brand new clutch as well. A rare and outstanding car.

I think you will find these useful!! I can see your quandry though, you'll just have to view both & check your piggy bank.

Although I'm one of those 964 owners that is slowly modifying my car, I think the point of a celebration is that it should be kept standard as it was already a special model. With that in mind, the Sean Lockyear car has been fitted with air cooling ducts and has non-standard wheels (they may even be replicas but I can't tell from the pics). Therefore I'd choose the other one. But even here I wonder if it is worth the money as it's been imported from HK. Just my 2p. [:)]

Yes they are replicas , and i too would go for the HK one if it checks out. Seems well worth the extra cost if its an original car
you want to keep for long term.

I am hoping to keep the car for the long term and yes I do want to keep it 'original'.

I have a daily runner so this will be my weeked car.

Steve has a valid point though. What effect does it have that the car was initially from Hong Kong? Presumably just a value issue.

I can only answer this for myself - for me that car is the right money for one of the few and very rare UK cars. I know that a UK car is effectively an import from Germany but it just seems more valuable to me than one that started its life in HK. My suspicion is that it would limit the number of potential buyers if you ever move it on. As I said, this is just my 2p.

Can all forum owners keep their eyes and ears open for any other celebration models for sale. I am really keen to get a vehicle ASAP.

I am also interested in turbo-look cabriolets (I see there were 3 featured in the October 2007 issue of Total 911). What is the market rate for turbo-look cab? Will I get one for my budget of 20ish?

I did see this one, but by the picture it doesnt look wide enough to be a turbo body.

I agree that the one picture they show doesn't allow you to see a lot. Probably as it's being sold by a non specialist. What do others think?

I reckon that must be the limited edition "narrow" Turbo body!!! Some of these dealers haven't got a clue have they??

Regards

Dave

I agree with Dave, that is the same as my Cab, no chance it being a wide body[8|]

Phil was the Hillcrest one no good??

Sorry Muzzer to have got your hopes up. Saw the ad and didn't look closely at the pic until you mentioned it. Still looks nice though. Tell them you want 5 grand knocking off the price for misrepresenting it [;)]

I spoke to Simon and he said he would take a few photos and e.mail them across to me. I still havent got that e.mail.

I also enquired about the car at Sean Lockyear's but he too hasnt got back to me.

You would have thought dealers would be interested in a prospective buyer. I'm not poo pooing anybody but I would have expected a reply.

I have ruled out the Hong Kong import. Basically, its just a bit too expensive. I've seen 1997 993's for less. The problem is I dont want a 993 (or a 996 for that matter - I just find it amazing that earlier 911's including 3.2 are more expensive. I owned a 996 for about 6 months and is was a great daily driver but didnt have the wow factor. I want to be excited when I get in the drivers seat). I would rather get a really sorted 964. My budget of circa £20k should do this but finding the right car is proving a nightmare. I've trawled pistonheads, autotrader etc but cant find anything that stands out.

Thats why I wanted a celebration as its a bit unusual. I think I'll have to change tack and look for a narrow body car. I hate to say it but I'm getting really impatient now and just want to see a 911 in my drive. I dont know how long I'll have to wait for another turbo-look to come on the market - and several months is just too long. I'm sure you all know how I feel.

I did find one turbo-look cab but its lhd and £30k: -

Please post me if you see a car up to £20k that you would consider buying yourself.

Turbo is a great choice , but if you are on a budget it must be impeccable ! Also they drink fuel when you put your foot down !
