I'm thinking that at £50k you'll be able to get a Gen 2 997. In which case, a good starting point is the Offish website .. click on the "Compare Models" link and choose say the standard, S and 4S convertible... URL below for this combo. http://www.porsche.com/all/comparemodels/Compare.aspx?model1=997311&model2=997321&model3=997621&pool=uk&language=none&selTab= What you'll realise is that a LOT of sales ads for second hand cars contain stuff like PCM, PASM, PSM ... all of which are standard. On the official site you'll be able to see (via a tiny asterisk) which things are standard and which are optional - and there are a lot of options. Then the advice you'll get (and should take) is to drive all of them, preferably close together and choose which one you prefer. Finally, then scour the ads for the right trim level. Above all enjoy the return to the Porsche experience.

As you can probably imagine Michael this is not an unusual topic in these parts! See this thread too http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=576968 I would say look for a good spec "S", 2 or 4 to your preference, with short shifter and PSE. Cab - if you must......[&:][] . Of course £50k will just about get you one of these........ http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2095930.htm [8D]
I have previously owned a 996 C4 and a 996 C4S, both of which I loved, especially the 4S. I'm now driving a Jag XKR which is a nice car but it's a cruiser rather than a sports car so I'm thinking of going back to a 911 but which one? I'm thinking of a Cab this time rather than a Coupe and it has to be a manual; obviously I can see that the S model is more pricey than the standard and that the 4S is more pricey than the 2S and then there is the issue of equipment. Is PASM standard on some models and not others and is it worth having? What about the sport chrono package? Anything else worth having? Budget upto £50k
Quite a goodly way to go for a viewing though! [&:]Of course £50k will just about get you one of these........ http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2095930.htm
For you and me maybe - the OP might live north of the border![]ORIGINAL: Lancerlot Quite a goodly way to go for a viewing though! [&:]
