Which Battery should I Buy

Hi there, I have a 911 991.1 Carrera 4 GTS. I need a new battery and was wondering which is the best to fit. I have looked on Halfords and the Banner website but was wondering if there are any other better Brands I should consider.

The car is not used very often, is stored in a garage, and I use a trickle charger from time to time.

Any advice welcome,
Thanks
Andy

Hi Andy,

I can never understand why a so-called premium brand like Porsche always chooses to fit rather obscure batteries from the likes of Moll and Banner, especially when the majority of electrical components, etc., are of Bosch manufacture. I’m sure that they must buy them for next to nothing!🙄

I don’t think that you can go wrong if you plump for a Bosch or a Varta battery, both of whom offer a decent warranty with their products.

Try Tayna batteries offer varies brands ,heard good reports ,Not sure if car has to be programmed after to accept new battery ,and if your car has stop start which I believe needs a special type. sure others will advise

Yes, it’s recommended to use an AGM battery for cars with stop-start, but sites like Tanya and Euro Car Parts will lead you to battery options if you input your registration number.

Your car has a battery monitor, and ideally it should be reset using suitable Porsche-compatible diagnostics when a new battery is installed to update the battery charging regime.

If you have Porsche Extended Warranty you will need a Porsche approved and fitted battery so as not to void it.

Was told different by 2 OPC .a Porsche battery is not required as they do not make batteries so cannot warrant it ...also tyres do not need to be N rated now .

Try GSF factors who can supply Yuasa batteries suitable for stop/start-just bought a 100 A/hour version for BMW 530D with 5yr warranty for ÂŁ114 inc VAT

as they do not make batteries so cannot warrant it

Could you apply that to a lot of the components that are made by “outside” companies? Possibly the instruments, bearings, the wiring etc?

Regards

Bill

Agreed Bill, but like tyres and brakes, batteries aren’t expected to last more than 4 or 5-years maybe, especially if/when stop-start is used extensively.

That's good news if this info is correct, however extended warranty is third party insurance, so it would be shrewd to verify this directly with the company.
