Which brand of tyre do you recommend for 944

ORIGINAL: slim_boy_fat

Good news indeed, 25k miles at £100 per hoop. Not sure i will be able to get them for that price, best i have seen is about £125 each...

I was thinking of Toyos as they are £92 each!! And i am a tight git!![;)] But i really hate puting different tyre types on my car, much prefer to keep same all round. cheers. Will prob just go for the Conties..

Have you tried www.mytyres.co.uk, you can get some fantastic prices on there. They do all the brands including many you won't have even heard of. I just bought a pair of Conti Sport Contacts for my hack (205 55 16's) for £65 per corner, OK there's fitting to go on that (my local chap fitted them for £10 / wheel) for which you'll pay a little extra than normal. I'm still quids in and I got to choose who fited my tyres instead of the monkey with the cheapest price !! As for delivery time, I ordered on Thursday am and they we're delivered by carrier on Monday am direct from Germany.
Don't think you can beat it!!

My S03 rears got an advisory at today's MoT with six exclamation marks after it (well, they are down to the markers around the middle [&:] ) so it looks like I'd better be purchasing soon.

I'm after 265/35 18's and I think I can get Michelin Pilot Sports fitted for £125 a corner - here's hoping I still can. It isn't so much a case of choosing Michies as being stupid not to have them at that price and they do last, which is ideal for a poseur cab that spends most of its life on the motorway.

Well, it turns out I can't still get the Pilot Sports for that money (try £224 [&o]).

So I am getting a pair of Bridgestone S02's fitted tomorrow for £177 each "but we can play with that a bit for cash"[;)]

I used to swear by bridgestone re71 215 x 15 on my 944S having read a comparison test on tyres done in a popular car magazine, not the ultimate in the dry but best braking and grip in the wet.

I have been using Avon Z1 and now ZZ3 directionals on my 24, 24t and 928S4. In one particular cavalier thrashing session in my 24, I forgot myself in the wet and fired the old girl into a bend way faster than I thought it would go around scaring myself in the process! I now realise I was driving like a tart before. It gripped, the cavalier suddenly found another reverse gear.
I am using Z1s on my 24t on Boxster S wheels, 225 x 16. It's taken the edge of the traffic light GP, but I show about 4050 rpm at you know how many miles per hour, on the speeeeeeeedo. You cant have everything.

yikes! looks like i got a good deal today then... S03s (245/45-16) for the rear at £75.50 each, plus £6 fitting & balancing per wheel. [8D]

sorry Paul, just wanted to keep you in suspense! [:D]

I always get my tyres (and most of my bits) from Richard at Club Autosport. (01384) 410879. To be honest I'm still not absolutely convinced he got the price right on these (i was expecting them to be more like £100 - watch this space!), but he's always very competitive and several of my friends have opted for tyres from there in the past as well. Maybe on this occasion he was taking pity on me - I've been spending plenty of money there recently [8D]
