The porsche was not the cheapest of super cars in 1974,in fact you could have brought a Ferrari Dino priced £6245 A
lamborghini V8 Urraco was only £8252 or bringing up the rear the V6 Maserati Merak £7866 or V8 de Tomaso pantera at £7341
Having once owned a dino for a short while, I can say what a car, I still have a fond memories of it. Not the most reliable of my cars ,but what a body !!!
The thing I like about the porsche ( our model) is the fact , that I can race it round the track, go for a run in it or just go to shops, put it away ,not use it for a while ,go to the garage, get it out and drive it. No electronic devices to close down or computers, just good basic engineering.
Having owned quite a few porsches over the years 924.944 964 plus never parting with my trusty 2.7 ,still only 89k. no oil leaks, does smoke and not rebuilt and can eat your dinner off the engine.
Some may say that you do nt use it then,I say ,.see you at le mans classic or at snetterton classic or goodwood .My cars are for driving , only work stops me.
