Which company for good quality Coachwork please?

Hi,
I am about to have a few items corrected on my newly purchased 993 (exhaust heat shields, Turbo Hollows refurbished, RSRs fitted, new front discs + shields, 24K service, new cam covers) and while the rear bumper is off I am going to have a few little spots sorted.

Can someone please recommend a Porsche spray specialist in the South West UK please? Also, am I correct in thinkiing that the 993 bumpers are made of a non metal substance, or did I dream it[8|]?

I am also going to get the bottom back sections of the wheel arches sorted to remove stone chips and then get them guarded (Recommended by my Independant 'Steve Bull'). Is this something that others have had done and if so, who would I get to fit the material to protect them from future hammerings (I guess someowne like Armourfend?).

Thanks for your help.

Hi, can't help with your search for a bodyshop in your area. However, I did have some protection fitted to my wheel arches after having the bodywork rectified. I used Paintshield in Grantham, Lincs.

Hi PP.
What did you think of the service you received and do you know what product they used (3M?).
Thanks.

Hi,
The service from Paintshield is top notch. I believe they use the 3M product. I had the front bumper and front edge of the bonnet covered also.

Hi,
How far up the wheel arch did they cover please? Also, if not too personal a question, what are the ball park costs please?

Thanks PP.

Hi Guys,

Still looking for recommendations for a good paint shop in the South West, or anywhere between London and Wiltshire please.

Thanks.

Hello Rich,

If you are relativley close to Andover then you are more than welcome to take a drive to see me, i have my own Bodyshop, i am not touting for business as i am always flat out busy doing insurance work, crash repairs and mainly new Commercial vehicles, but i would be more than happy to spend a while talking through with you your options, i have in the past carried out the odd restoration job, mainly on MGs although i did recently restore a 911 Turbo which was featured in a lot of the Porsche mags, as well as a total restoration on my beloved 3.2 Targa.
Apart from Thursday 20th ( when i will be driving to Cornwall to pick up my 993 Targa [:)] ) i will be working most of the Bank Holiday, so if you fancy a blast in your 993 and some free advice give me a shout.
I also use Steve Bull for my servicing, (although not for a while as i have been Porscheless ) excellent service and value for money, i havent seen his new premises yet but soon will, so he can give my latest buy the once over.

Paul.

Thanks very much for the offer Paul. I don't know whether I shall be able to make it over for the Bank Holiday; I shall have to check with the wife. I have already used quite a few good will points in buying the 993 from our savings already and we have relatives over for that period! If I can make it I'll need to drop you a line. Can you PM or email me your mobile or landline please?

I have used GTR Motorsport and have been delighted with the results, and I have had concours winning cars on and off for years. Tony Littlejohn worked for Porsche for 14 years I think. He has done little bits on mine and the paint match has been superb, he knows these cars inside out. His pricing is very fair and collection and delivery never seems to be a problem, if you are very fussy, give him a call on 07980 874690 or email him on tony@gtrmotorsport.co.uk He is based in Sindlesham.

Cheers

Harvey

another recommendation for paint shield they have just done the whole front of my 993 Turbo and two pieces by the rear arches, i did not get back till late so do not have any photos of the job, but it looks top notch, if you phone them they will quote you over the phone instantly, I could see the old rear protection when it was in the garage, but now I can not see it.

a very pleasant day spend in there workshop watching TV and playing on a xbox (i am easily amused)

the coverage is exactly like on there magazine advert, although when i spoke to them they said that they can basically do what the customer wants, and can even cover an entire car... They do use 3m film and my old rear protection panels are now on there wall of shame due to how much they had yellowed and I could not believe the amount of glue on the old rear panels.
