Which coolant?

Hi all
Just had a low coolant alert on way home, was told at last service I had a slight leak in one of the pipes (7 months ago) so I need to top up, No idea what to use so am hoping someone can recommend the best...the current coolant is pink and the mere fact I have to state this shows my complete incompetence in these matters.
I'd also like to top up the oil as it's on the last segment on the display, is it mobile 1 that's the one to buy? How much do I need to put in to get the segments back to the top, don't want to overfill it.
Thanks
Rich

You need the correct long-life coolant additive from Porsche and Mobil 1 oil is fine.

Clive.

Thanks for your help, Any particular grade of Mobil 1? And how much do I need to put in to go from the min mark to get four full segments back on the display?

The oil is Mobil 1 New Life, Porsche charge around £16 per litre, Costco sell it @ £30 for 5 litres. I read somewhere it's one litre of oil from max to min. I normally try add around 200ml if it's 1 bar from the top.

0W-40 or 5W - 40 are recommended viscosities for 997.

The difference between the minimum and maximum marks on the segment display is approx. 1.25 litres.
One segment of the display corresponds to a top-up quantity of approx. 0.4 litre.

This information is also available in your driver's handbook and in the Technical Section of the Members' Only segment of 997 Register. [:)]

Regards,

Clive.

Clive I love the way you've basically told me to RTFM (read the ####ing manual)
You sound like my IT department!! Lol [:)]
I prefer to use the forum as my manual is upstairs and I'm on my iPad downstairs!

If you don't have a Costco nearby Halfords are doing it for £40 atm for 5 lts and, I think, free delivery if you order on the interweb.

All sorted, coolant and oil topped up. Now just need to sort out the slow puncture and give her a good clean. Thanks all.
