I'm looking for a new exhaust for my S2. What are your recommendations ?

I called the OPC today and got a quote for a standard system,it was a bit expensive. Ok very expensive £1300 to be exact..........

Dansk on mine is perfectly fine. Slightly nicer sound, and was £160 fitted. (that was on a discount event though).

Only problem is that some of them don't fit perfectly: mine is one. It does vibrate slightly on the heat shield. Jon Mitchel confirmed this ages ago, so I don't know if it was a dodgy batch of if there are two versions. I'd suggest buying through him as he seemed to know the difference.

This is a great thread and should give you some ideas for a lot less than £1300.

£320 for a 968 so an S2 will not be dearer. They offered to do my Turbo for the same price but I suspect that the external wastegate would have surprised them.

I'm still as happy as a pig in poo with mine :)

As yours is an S2, you might want to look at Ken Coad's thread about the new exhaust on his 968, which I gather is and sounds awesome. There was a write up about it in 911 and Porsche world (don't know which issue, but must be fairly recent!) copied on this thread on 968uk forum :

I've had the Dansk for about 10 years now. It's a perfectly fine exhaust with no issues whatsoever and it still shines up like a shiny thing [:)]

It's not a lot of use when the Porsche Club register secretary post on a forum that's blocked to PCBG members?

Ken, posting your experience here would be hugely beneficial to Club members. [8|]

Just for clarity, it was not Ken that posted the article from 911 and Porsche magazine, it was a 968uk member on a thread similar to this but about the 968 exhaust system.

968uk is not blocked to PCGB members - there are many on that forum, myself included, who are PCGB members. All you have to do is register - just as a non-PCGB member can register on this forum!

There was a recent general post on Pistonheads Scotland around stainless steel exhausts that may be useful.

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=118&t=1181925&mid=0&i=40&nmt=Stainless+Exhaust+Manufacturers%3F&mid=0

Stainless Creations in Falkirk have done a number of 968 exhausts as seen in their website gallery.
I was also speaking to another 968 owner who has just had a cat back stainless exhaust done by Planet Performance in Ayrshire for around £300.

+ 1 for Dansk.

Looks like an original too, with the added benefit of being SS and makes a slightly better sound...a bit more metallic and raspy on my S2.

It isn't blocked as such but there is a £10 joining fee for new members. I imagine that outs a lot of people off as you have no idea what its like.

I was not aware of that - I've been a member for many years, and IIRC it was free when I joined - although I did see later that there was a £3 fee for the car sticker as part of registering, part of keeping bots etc away! However, it's privately owned (by a PCGB member and ex 968 register sec!) so I guess he has to watch the costs.

Despite Ken Coads efforts, 968uk is still a far better site for 968 owners than the 968 forum on here. For some reason, the 944 forum here is very active and full of help etc, whereas the 968 forum is almost moribound.
