Which fuel for an S4?

Just a quick query after someone questioned the fuel I put in it. It states in the handbook, 95RON which I have been using the car with but it was suggested that it may be better on the 99RON. Is that correct? She seems happy enough on 95.

Hi, I run mine on the higher octane fuel, mainly as i was told it had less ethanol content.

Guessing it would be the same as a similar aged 944. My '83 944 required 98RON fuel, but Porsche decided in the early '80's to make all their cars run on 95RON, so when they updated the design in '85, the new models only required 95RON. My '89 will run quite happily on 95, but is certainly slightly smoother and more responsive on 98RON. I use Shell V-Power usually.
I also use it as James says, because it has less ethanol (less than 5%) than the 95 RON fuel which can have up to 10% before they legally need to mention it!

A GTS needs the V Power. If you give it to your S4 it will only get a taste for the stuff [:D]

Many thanks for the replies. So in essence, it's quite happy to run on the 95 but, for a slightly better response, give it 98?
