Which oil do you use

hi There a relative newbie wanting to ask which oil i should use for my C4S....no warning lights on as yet, but wanna get some for stock for when it happens

I have always used Mobil 1 which Porsche recommend and approve.

Most (if not all Porsches) are supplied with this this on initial delivery. My last four 911.s certainly were.
There is usually a sticker inside the engine cover stating what the car is filled with and what is recommended, the Owner's manual gives full technical spec so other suitable brands can be used.

It is expensive and I doubt that it is much better than any other brand of full synthetic but it does avoid warranty problems.

Cheers

Lots of choice, your handbook gives viscosity specifications for winter and summer temperatures if they vary considerably. Any full synthetic oil meeting the specs will do (preferable a known brand) I use Mobil 1 as it is readily available here and is the oil recommended by Porsche and was the original fill but you don't have to use it.

Cheers

Mobil 1 it will be then.....cant go wrong if thats what they recommend
ive only done 1000 miles so far in it, so havent even checked it but i will at the weekend

thanks again for your replies

Hi

I have used Mobil 1 on my previous 997 Gen1 Turbo & Gen 2 Turbo s

If you have a Cosco account even better you can get 5 litre for 28.99 plus vat or if you have a friend who has account get it from there much cheaper...

Regarding the first post mate I wouldn't wait until the oil check light appears. Keep a tab on it by checking it regularly via the oil check information centre on the car.

Mobil 1 is Tri-Synthetic which is actually better than Magnatec to be fair. If you want that extra shear strength stability go for a full Esther based synthetic oil.

Opie Oils is an excellent reference site for these types of oils.
