Which Oil for 944 Turbo

I'm going to have the oil changed tomorrow on my 944 Turbo.

I know it has been asked before but what is the recommended oil to be used?

I am currently swaying towards Mobil 1 10w60 but am open to suggestions if it is better or recommended?

 
Opie oils recommended Millers CFS 10w-50 competition full synthetic oil for mine based on doing track days and an intention to change the oil very regularly. Newly built engine too if that colours your judgement. The thing is, you'll only find out if you made the wrong choice if something goes pop.

I have always believed changing the oil more regularly more than makes up for any small differences in the actual oil chosen. I could be wrong...

I always thought that a 60w was too thick unless you were doing an endurance event.

I run Royal Purple 15w40 and my car sees plenty of track action too.
 
Millers CFS 10W50 NT all the way.

I haven't needed to retop the level since I last replaced the oil 2k miles ago and I drive the car pretty hard. Stunning oil. Blows away the Castrol RS 10W60, Motul 300V 15W50 and Sikolene Pro R 15W50 which I have all used before on this engine.

Take the time to flush the oil cooler(s) before filling up.

The car has 324bhp with dual port wastegate, bigger injectors, bigger intercooler etc. but isn't used as a track car and won't do sustained high speed except the odd Autobahn burst
 
Martin, i run Fuchs Titan R 10/40w semi synthetic as does Mike, we buy it through the motorbike shop (his sisters) in bulk, 20 litres at a time, now that the Turbo S is back up and running the oil will get done this weekend along with a new dizzy cap, rotor arm and plugs.

I use Mobil 2000 10/40 Semi-Synthetic just because that's what OPC use, ok not a Turbo but not sure that matters?

I was also running this but on a turbo 250 with excellent results, oil pressure was improved as well.

The zddp levels were a bit low but thats a whole other story! I think around 900 ppm v recommended 1200ppm

Didn't worry me though!
 
I am using Lucas 10w/60 fully synth just now as I had a slightly noisy tappet which was only evident when engine been running for 20 mins or so. There is now no noise however I'm thinking of dropping down to 10w/50 fully synth at next change, purely just so the oil pressure rises quicker at start up, more noticable on a cold winters day. Probably takes 2 or 3 seconds to reach 5 bar due to the thickness.

I have a rebuilt engine and turbo and the car has only needed about 200ml of oil in the 6k miles since the change! Engine bone dry, no leaks and very minimal oil consumption through driving.

I had seen total quartz 10w/50 fully synth on ebay, about £25 for 5 litres. Seemed to get a good write up. Anybody tried it?

I was under the impression that the 951s required a thicker oil than the S2s due to the extra heat they produce. I know my Turbo engine bay is warmer than what my S2 engine bay was, and that was with my S2 having a tired cooling system to boot!

I am using 10W60 at the moment, but I may go to 10W50 at the next oil change.
 
ZDDP level is of major importance to preserve our now terribly costly hydraulic lifters.
