Which OPC would you choose?

Big service due this month. Already have an indication of price from my nearest OPC at Tonbridge (Kent). It's a round trip of over 120 miles. Phew! Still, has to be done"¦ no choice in my view. I need that very necessary third stamp in the book.

However, I do have one alternative. I could add an extra 20 or so miles to the round trip and take it to the East London PC at Stratford. My Box was originally supplied from there incidentally.

So, it's a choice I have and one that may well be influenced by feedback received from this post. Let's have your thoughts please guys. Which would you choose?

Does it make any difference? I'd save the gallon and a half of petrol and take the nearest.

Maybe not. Cost wise, it shouldn't I know. My first inclination is to do just as you suggest. Looking at some of the posts on the forum over the months, some consider their local OPC to be rather poor (or worse) and others get a round of applause for thoroughness etc. Don't recall seeing any comments about my two possibles. Hence, the enquiry.

Just had lots of work done on my car at OPC East London. They offered a home delivery service of a Cayenne S (never offered to me before by OPC Chiswick - my former OPC) even though I was outside of their catchment area, kept me in touch every day with texts and calls, fixed everything that needed to be fixed (a long list), and it was all covered under warranty (even though Porsche Centre Chiswick would have charged me). The car was cleaned inside and out.

This was on the back of a free inspection day they offered PCGB members a month back.

A big thumbs up.

My experience with OPC East London has been the complete opposite. A sorry tale of no phone calls, forgotten loan cars and work not completed. I actually asked the receptionist if their external dailling facility had been cancelled, and she thought I was joking.

It seems that if you ask 20 people about the service they get from their OPC, you'll get 20 responses based on individual expectations, the person they deal with and no doubt, the type of car they have.

I ordered my car from OPC Colchester and moved house to Central London so the trip to Colchester is now not practical, but my experience there with both sales and service there has been second to none - absolutely first class. You also have the joy of poking about Ferraris, Maseratis and Bentlys if you visit the showroom.

Just to ponint out that I have had no real problems with the OPC in Cambridge - Gary Sorrell, 996 Register Secretary, is in charge of the servicing department and is always willing to offer help and advice.

When I post my running report on my 996 I will tell of the exceptional service I received from them after I had noticed some corrosion on the alloy wheels.

I received an email from a director at JCT600 saying they were sorry that they could not meet my high standards, What can you say!

The truth is my expectations about OPC are very low compared to other business I deal with.[8|]

Well, I've decided to do the easiest thing as suggested by JCB and save the petrol. I've booked it in at the Tonbridge OPC. [8|]
Mind you, other than my initial post, mention of this particular Centre has been noticable by it's absence in this thread. Perhaps Porsche owners are something of a rare breed in mid Kent. Or maybe PCGB needs go on a marketing spree! [:D]

I bought my car through OPC Colchester and they have serviced it ever since and I can't fault their service. I live about 76 miles away and they always pick the car up and leave me a courtesy car. Last time it was a Cayman 2.7. When the car returns it has always been valeted. A year or so ago I didn't do enough miles to warrant a full service and they advised me to have an annual service instead and after a couple of tries they seem to have fixed the RMS before the warranty ran out.

They have my vote.
