Which replacement exhaust system

Hi All,

My 03 plate turbo has started showing signs that the exhaust is blowing. I take that they are not easy to repair so was after some advise of which system to replace the original exhaust with. There seems to be loads on the market so a recommendation would be great. I would like something that sounds good throughout without breaking the bank, as a new Porsche part is over £3000! Any thoughts, regards.

Main expense on our '03 non turbo was getting the studs out, they were seriously corroded.
Prepare for a large labour bill if you're not diy.

I changed my manifolds and mine were all seized but I used a thermal conductor on mine and they all came free.

Pieman7, sorry for the silly question but what is a mechanics 'thermal conductor'. I take it it's a means of heating the studs?

Hi Nobby,if u go back a few pages there are loads of threads on exhaust choices. It may be good for you to read through them and way up the pros and cons of each so to speak. As suggested do be peparared for a few broken studs though. Everyone will have there favourite, and it will depend if you are shopping for sound or price, or stainless v standard, even how much you use the car will effect the choice.

Hi sorry for the late reply the thermal conductor is as you mention Richard its a kind of heat gun but it can just be used to heat a nut or bolt head. It a great tool no flames and very precise it's ideal for the manifold bolts also great for wheel hubs.

Cheers guys for the replies. I'm off for an mot, worst case new exhaust, seeking forgiveness rather than permission when the boss finds the bill. Thanks again. Nobby
