Which service?

I'm shortly going to book the annual service for my 993. It's now done 67000 miles. Please have a quick look at the history and let me know if you'd go for a 12, 24 or 48k service. (An OPC gave it a clean bill of health after a PPI 2 weeks ago.)

10-04-97 Merlin Nottingham 3507
09-04-98 Merlin Nottingham 6600
17-03-99 Merlin Nottingham 18531 (24k service)
29-02-00 HR Owen St Albans 30791 (48k service)
31-10-00 HR Owen St Albans 43296
29-10-01 AFN Guildford 52261 (48k service)
29-10-02 AFN Guildford 56656
23-10-03 AFN Guildford 61837 (24k service)
13-12-04 AFN Guildford 64512

Cheers

Even though the car has only done approx 6k miles in 2 years, logic would dictate going for a 12k service as opposed to a 24k service. One potential problem with that is, the Porsche service schedule (dealer servicing) on the 993, the oil filters are not changed on a 12k service, only on the 24k service. It has been mentioned on forums before that the genuine oil filters have been corroding and then leaking when not changed regularly ie. every 2 years.

I service my own cars and stick to the Porsche schedule, 12k with oil filters once a year and 24k the following year, even though the mileage may only be 5k pa.

I would go for either 12K plus both oil filters changed or 24K which will get the spark plugs done as well. My only reason for not going for the full 24K is I am sure the plugs will not need replacing after 2 years with very low mileage.

Ian.

Thanks for your thoughts guys. I didn't know that the filters are only done on 24's, I think I'll go for the 12k service + filters option.

Cheers
