which springs

just fitted a set of 18" alloys to my car, now it needs lowering, everyone seems to be fitting H+R springs and i've been offered a set of eibach pro kit springs at a very reasonable price, has anybody had these fitted to their car, if so did they make the ride any harder than standard, been told H+R are hard springs and the eibach not so, plus the H+R's lower by 40mm and the eibach only by 30mm.
cheers

Eibachs do only lower by 30mm.

Made the ride a bit harsher but nothing major.

They did improve it on track. Make sure they're the progressive ones.

I have managed to get hold of a set of RS front springs.

Is there a problem with fitting them to the standard C2 front shocks?

Does no one know whether you can fit RS front springs to standard front shocks on a 964 Targa?

The springs are 265mm long (off the car) and have yellow paint dashes on two rings of the spring.

Any clues or suggestions as to whom I should ask?

Thanks

Matthew

Matthew,

Posing the question on the Rennlist 964 forum should get you some answers. I'm guessing that just changing the front springs is not likely to be a good idea. Mismatching front and back is likely to lead to handling problems.

The RS is considerably lower than the standard car and the rear springs will be shorter as a consequence.

Thanks Dave.

I agree that messing around blindly with suspension set up can be portenially catastrophic however all I'm hoping to do is to level the car out.

What I mean by that is, either the previous owner changed the rear springs for lower versions or the rear springs have simply sagged (more likely) so the rear of the car sits at the same hight (+ or - 1 or 2 mm) as the standard RS.

She becomes unstable at high speed and the front gets VERY light. My idea (seeing as I'll probably never take her on a track - I have a bike for that) is to simply lower the nose to match the rear ride hight.

Does anyone know the length of standard front spring when it's off the car (i.e. unsprung length)?

Hi Can anyone tell me the unsprung length of the standard C2 front springs?

i.e. how high they are when off the car.

cheers

Matthew
