Birthday coming up, already enjoy Evo subscription, fancy another, any suggestions? Really like Octane, but fancy something more 'Porschey' perhaps? What's the PCGB mag like? How often is it published?

Practical performance car (PPC) is far and away the best magazine for proper petrol heads (i.e. those who actually like getting oil on thier hands), and they always seem to have a few porsches featured, they have couple of 924's as staff cars including a turbo that Dave Walker (Mapping Guru) has converted to emerald management, plus they have had 944's in the past. Plenty of variety and real tech features, no cheque book tuning at all. Really recommend the mag, anybody else read it? As an aside what is the best porsche mag on sale?

I've got a subscription to Car, and have read it since I was about 15. To me, it covers all the new cars, industry insides and interesting articles well enough.

Porsche Post is well worth a couple of quid a month, but then it's free anyway. Seriously, take a look at a few issues and see what you think.

I buy PPC and you're quite right, it is grounded and set amidst the mad world of cars in bits and various projects!

Ben, what about getting a subscription to 911 & Porsche World - as many Porsches as you can shake a gearstick at?!

I don't get it every month, but do sometimes (even had a letter published [:)]). It can be a good read, but I just wish they'd do jobs properly, there's an awful lot of bodging going on. The also keep saying 944's are unreliable which is rubbish (and the point of my letter). It's worth it for the Dave Walker bit alone however (since Circuit Driver sadly disappeared).

Evo is my favourite, but I also get most of the Porsche ones too. The club mag is pretty good although it doesn't take me that long to read most issues, but club membership could save you a lot of money in the long run, so it has a lot of added value.

Is that the recommended 'Porsche' read then? As opposed to the other 2? How much is PCGB membership these days and what does it offer?

bennyboy, a link for you about benefits and costs http://www.porscheclubgb.com/Membership/Benefits.aspx
The lincs region looks to be going through a new regeneration of interest, so possibly a good time to get involved locally.

I still subscribe to EVO but recently dropped my renewals to the majority of other Porsche magazines due to them all seeming to do the same articles within a few months of each other!?
I did subscribe to quite a few of them though.[]

I now just pick up the ones that look interesting that month...

911 & PW and GT Porsche are the two I regularly buy and did in my non-Porsche years as well just so I didn't go cold turkey. Both have run 944s as staff cars but don't seem to be featuring much of 944s at the moment, perhaps they need reminding of this brilliant car.
Why don't we send emails to them to have more 944 features,
