Which tyres for 17" wheels?

Hello,

I purchased a set of Cup 2 for the turbo and am looking for what tyres to fit them with.

I am a die-hard fan of the Bridgestone S-02 and its stiff sidewalls (on 16" wheels) but I now need Y-rated tyres, and as far as I can see the S-02 is only ZR-rated.

Looks like the recent Falken FK453 is a great tyre decently priced, but it's not N-rated, which suggests to me its sidewall might not be as stiff as "needed"...?

Any thought, any other recommendations?

Thanks.

A few of us are on non N rated tyres with no adverse affects. I have fitted Michelin PS3s to the front of my car and they seem to be holding up nicely. I know that Eldavo is pleased with his. However, they are only W rated admittedly where the PS2s are.

I've got the 453's on my Boxster with 17" wheels

Not sure about the sidewalls - It has m030 suspension so quite firm anyway. I don't have anything to compare with unfortunately. What I can say is that the tyres stood up well to a dry trackday at Cadwell Park without any signs of rolling onto the sidewalls.

Good to hear Ed, thanks - How do the 453 fare in terms of road noise? Have to say this has always been a slightly annoying aspect of the S-02 I won't be missing...

I have Bridge s-02 on my s2, grand job not a bother , the zr rating is fine afaik, dont think there is a Y rated in this product.

Not bad at all for road noise - been out today with the roof down, happily cruising at 90 [:D]

You can certainly feel and hear harsher road surfaces in my car, but that's with m030 and a Sparco seat.
