which wheels

I am still not a proud owner of my dream 944, but hopefully soon!!! A few I have been looking at have the original cookie cutters with the black centres. These look very 'period'. I prefer this look to the later telephone dials which if I get the sort of model I want, I will probably end up with. Others have beeen upgraded to later Porsche wheels (cups, boxster etc) which to me dont quite suit What is the general feelings towards say a 88 model with 83 cookie cutters? Or maybe some 911 style black and polished rim Fuch's (15 or 16" of course) I suppose its just personal choice but I would be interested in any opinions.
On another point, I thought the only car I would get would be guards red but I am now quite liking the pure white look. Again opinions as I am looking for the iconic Porsche look without the cost of a classic 911 turbo

They won't fit I'm afraid - cookie cutters and Fuchs are the wrong offset for an 88 car.

White is the new black!

My 944 has 4 - 43mm wheel spacers and the S2 wheels. I love it.

Totally agree white is the new colour - look how many new cars are in white. Audi.VW.Ford.Volvo.

My 944 is white and looks ageless and I think its cos manufacturers now ( and Porsche in 1986!) realsie colour coding bumpers, mirrors, door handles really works.

Thanks for the info so far. I am confused about wheel offsets. Thought all could be 'adapted' to suit. Like the idea of the 86 with fuch's OCALLEN. Any chance of some photos, or anyone else for that matter.
Thanks

1986 model year series two cars had a similar offset to 1981-1985 cars (23mm). 1987 model year cars (built from September 1986) have the later 'ABS' offset of 52.3mm; whether the car has ABS or not. These 1986 cars can run on ATS wheels, as well as Fuchs.

It isnt quite as simple as people have made out though and late cars can be run on early offset wheels. Jim will recall the thread on TIPEC where someone had bought a red 1988 car which was fitted with ATS 'cookie cutters' (there were pictures) and I had a series one car which was wide tracked and fitted with 7"x16" Fuchs. The cars arent particularly sensitive to rear offset, but being 30m out at the front will cause problems.

So, as you can see, fitting 23mm offset 15" or 16" wheels is possible on a series two car, but its less than ideal and you will only be able to fit 7" width rims: even after rolling the rear wheelarch lip I doubt that 8" rims will fit.

4x 7"x16" Fuchs would look better, I think...
