Hello,

I was wondering if anyone can help.

This morning my tailgate gate developed a whining sound. As I travel along the road it whines. I have check the boot release button in the drivers foot well and I have opened and closed the tailgate several times but this doesn't seem to stop the whining. Now when the car comes to a full stop the whining sound stops. But it whines when I start to travel along the road.

Can anyone help please.

Sean :-(

CAREFULLY adjust the lockibng pins. These are the pins at the rear of the tail gate on each side.
They have a locking nut and (usually) a screwdriver slot in the cone shaped end. Release the locking nut and screw the pins in half a turn and try the result.
If this doesnt work you need a ne rubber seal.

Hi Sean

Depends on your definition of a whine! Mine had a fizzing noise that I eventually tracked down (wife in the boot while I drove etc!!) as being the rear screen disbonding from its frame in the hinge area. I had previously done all the other 'fixes' and still the noise remained. I posted about it under "Rear Hatch Refurb - To do or" some time ago. Only tackle that job if you're really patient though.

[:)] Thanks for the advice guys,

Since I asked for advice the whining has stopped. It happened when the car was running and as soon as turned the engine off and started it up again the whining stopped. Since Saturday I have had no whining since.????
