Whistling engine noise

had my 997s a year. Thrilled 2 bits with her, she's done 18k miles and about a week ago noticed a whistling noise coming from the engine when I accelerate or even cruising. Hadn't noticed it before and had no probs with her. Bought from opc sutton coldfield. Car still performs beautifully and theres no drop in performance. Anyone else had this?

Same happened to my car - it was found to be the exhaust blowing (in a high-pitched way) where the silencers and cats connect. There are a pair of sleeves (one each side) that seal the joins and it was one of these that was making the whistle. Replaced the sleeves, lined everything up again and all was well

that's interesting ! (sorry to hyjack) ,my 944S2 whistles like a Harrier jump jet taking off. I always assumed it was a normal air intake sound ?[:(]
Might take a closer look at the manifolds and exhaust next MOT thanks for the tip

many thanks for that ian, maybe it will be a good excuse to get the sports exhaust i have been on about.

David,
Definitely get the PSE and then disconnect the brown plug, you won't be able to hear any form of whistling due to the wonderful noise that will be blaring out the rear. [:D][:D][:D]
