Ok gents I've done the searches and think I've followed a set way of eliminating my woes. Unfortunately it hasn't work.

The car ; 1984 944 Lux owned since May.

The story; The car a month ago was driven from my garage on to the drive for a bit of tlc, a wash etc. the car had run very well and started first time on the run up to that day. Wash done and time to back her back in to the garage.

Car tries to turn over but doesn't fire, rev counter needle has a small flutter.

Son and I push car in to garage (up hill and they aren't light are they).

Order and replace DME.. Situation unchanged.

Check for spark. Yes

Check for fuel in the rail. Yes

Check all electrical leads.

Try car again (a few weeks later), no power at all. Central locking from the fob doesn't work.

The car has a Clifford alarm imobiliser fitted by a previous owner.

I have replacement ECU ready but I can't access the drivers side to fit it as no power to get the car out of the garage.

Put the battery in charge and nothing. Dead, no lights nothing.

Without power I'm struggling to get the the next level.

Can the battery be helped to die by my cranking (there wasn't a lot)?

Does this sound like the immobilisere the cause?

Help fellow enthusiasts help

Ian

Sounds like you need a new battery first.. or at least power using one from another car.

Try the cheapest and most obvious things first - or sell it to me as a non-runner for a bargain price [:D]

I think you are right, I checked this morning before leaving to work and the new battery charger/maintainer had no lights at all, like the battery is completely dead. It had been plugged in for 15 hours.

Fuel pressure regulator? I had spark and wet plugs but not starting, FPR cured it for me.
Good luck
Paul.
I will have a look at this once I get my new battery (which I definitely have to buy now).
