white gunk in oil filler cap

Checked my oil level today, only to find a little white gunk in the oil cap, is this bad, is there anything i can do if it is to prevent damage

I'm no mechanical expert but think you will find a little white gunk no problem - remember that the oil turning white is a problem with oil mixing with water in water coooled cars
 
I think there is some discussion about this in the 996 buyers tips technical forum. I know you don't have a 996 but might be worth a read?[8|]
 
In fact it says it is worse with short trips and in cold weather, but doesn't say why it happens. Says not to worry about it though??
 
its more than likely an indication of short journeys & the oil not getting high enough temp to fully evaporate off any moisture. Clean the cap & take the car for a long ( 100 mile + ) thrash on open roads [:D] .
