White residue on mirrors?

The usual culprit is a polish that leaves a white residue. The residue gets ingarined into the crinkled finish on the mirrors (and elsewhere) and it really difficult to shift. The best recommendation I have heard of (don't laugh) is smooth peanut butter!!! The smooth type has very small grains which gets into the crinkled finish and removes the polish residue. This is, apparently, a well guarded secret - so don't tell anyone!!!

PS - I'm not joking, really - I'm serious!!!

Update: Invested in a jar of Whole Earth Organic Smooth PB and can report the white residue has gone - completely. I just rubbed it in with a cloth, dodged the squirrels congregating around the car and washed it off with hot soapy water.
Job done. Thanks Dave!
Does it have to be organic PB? or does it depend on the polish used orginally?

I suppose Milton Keynes had it's concrete cows. Are they still there?
Back in the '80's I would only believe that they existed when to locals took us from Newport Pagnell to show us.

In their time they have been painted, mounted (in the biblical sense) and hi-jacked - but they're still there!!!
