White Smole when cold - 2000 3.2S

Hi

I was wondering if I someone could give me a bit of advise.

I have a 2000 Boxster 3.2S, when I start the car from cold a get a puff of white smoke, this only lasts a couple of seconds and then all is normal. This only happens the first time I start it, if I leave it parked all day then satrt it up - no smoke.

I have owned the car for about 6 months now and it has always done it, the car uses no oil.Is has only done 48000 miles, has OPC history to 42000 and specialist history since then.

I recently had my local OPC replace the all the spark plug tubes as they noticed it was leaking a bit of oil but this has made no differance. The problem became more noticable following its last service, this could have something to do with the oil being thinner.

I rang my local specialist service centre and they told me it was quite common for this to happen, explaining that the layout of the flat 6 meant that oil could collect and not run back to the sump and any oil that collect would burn off when starting the car.

Has only one else had any similar experiences. Please let me know so I know if I need to have investigated.

Thanks

Common. Mine does it and it only has 14k on the clock. Tends to happen when I start it, reverse out of garage and then switch off. Then, start it up again a few minutes later.

My year 2000 2.7 does it but only sometimes. It can go a few days between being used but usually it's fine then one day it will send a cloud out. I have had it a couple of years now and was told it's normal. No big problems so far, oil consumption is almost not measurable and coolant stays level. 108,000 miles.

Mine seems to only do it if there is a lot of people around who can have a good laugh at the expensive "Poorsh" that looks like it's blowing up...

All my boxsters have done this, including the current one....perfectly normal. It seems to be worse in the winter months - possibly because the car is left longer between starts.
