Went to the Tipec Show today got there at 10.00 left at 12.00 due to total washout[]Who else went?did you get stuck (getting muddy before we left)and what did you think of it?
I think due to the weather there was a smaller turn out and I didnt think there was as much going on as last year maybe...or it could be me leaving too soon[8|]

I was there from about 12:30 to 3ish, nice to catch up with a few friendly faces but the turnout was unsurprisingly low compared to the last couple of years considering the weather.

Quite liked the venue though, it was easy to find & easy to get in & out of, just as good as Elvaston & closer for me too [:D]

I'm ashamed that I decided not to go at the last minute, I didn't really fancy the rainy 280 mile round trip.

A bit O/T but I did do the FoS on Friday though and as ever that was brilliant and I even got sun burnt (which possibly isn't saying much as I can get a tan of a 40watt lightbulb). Mr Sims wont want to watch the vid below, which happened just past where I was standing:

Best regards,

I went too. Great fun getting out off the grass, lost the backend, losts of wheel spin, couldn't be helped[8|]. When I got home I found half the field is the wheel arches.

I am in tears even now. Fortunately it was a modern (and replaceable) car, no matter how lovely. I was there a couple of years ago when the McLaren 4wd F1 car crashed and killed the driver. Not the happiest of days.

I was considering going to the TIPEC do but concluded standing about in the rain looking at wet cars that I have seen before (and coughing up £50+ in petrol for the privilege) would be less fun than staying at home with my puppy. Mostyn & I had a great day.

Yes I remember that weekend, although only accidentally saw the footage of the crash last week when I was trying to explain what the FoS was about to a friend (not the best advert).

I think there may be ramifications from the Aston crash as debris hit some spectators, cutting one guys forehead. It would ruin it if they had to move the crowd further back or use fencing though.

Going even further O/T, have you trained Mostyn to stop trying to eat beaky yet? [:D]

Yep, "We" didnt got to the TIPEC either... Instead opting for the fun of the BTCC at Oulton Park...Had a great day out....
It sounds like it wasnt a very good show [TIPEC],this year.......?????

I actually thought last years show wasnt that good....A bit like a big field with some Porsches in.....Nothing like the Walton Hall shows....

I was thinking that when I saw the video. Unfortunately it was inevitable that it was going to happen sooner or later. Despite sundry "Motor Racing is Dangerous" signs people don't think it relates to them - until something happens.

He is a very intelligent little dog and thinks it is funny to see me jumping up and down. I have concluded it is easier not to put temptation in his way; although he now much prefers eating Peter to Beaky any way.

Set off from Barnsley around 9am and it was hot and sunny..started raining as soon as we got there..after a few hours decided to head back home..and then..
Ran out of petrol just a few miles from Thoresby..lucky for me - there was this nice bloke in a red 911 who pulled over and gave me a few litres..even offered to come to the nearest petrol station with me(many thanks for that)..so off we went..managed to follow him for about half a mile and then my engine just cut off again..out of my car, thumb up and i was off to the petrol station with someone..bought a 5 litre can and filled up..back to my car..fluid in and turn the key - only turns over,no sign of starting though..
Someone pulled over again..they were just on their way to the show - so back i was going again..managed to get a recovery number and phoned them up..but as i only bought this car a few weeks ago i didn't even remember the registration number..so back to the car again..got the reg number but no network coverage for Orange or 3..lucky i had my O2 prepay on me..phoned recovery again..took another hour and a half before he got there..but finally got the car on truck and off we went..cost me £164.23 to get it back home..off from truck and pushed it in back yard..swapped batteries..turned the key..started first time!!!!!!!!!! Gonna change DME relay just in case anyway but i can't say i enjoyed the day(got home just after 6pm)..

Buttocks!!!

That said I would have thought anyone with a 944 should have cover with AA/RAC etc. These are old cars and you can't replace everything. Sooner or later they will brake down.

Sorry you had such a crummy day though........I'll try not to sound too smug about not going. [;)]

Just took it there for selling..got cover for my other car(which is now being prepped for re-spray)..oh well..

Does sound awfully like DME relay. I speak from experience.
