Who is going to buy a Panamera?

Seriously considering putting a deposit down on one of these.

Anybody else thinking of getting one?

So I get my 997 with an extended wheelbase and the engine out of my Cayenne S?
Except the best thing about the 997 is the engine and the best thing about the Cayenne is the interior space.
Mmmmm. Maybe.

I quite fancy one in a few years with the kids. Porsche have said think Mercedes CLS size with Cayenne +10% price, i.e. will be Panamera, Panamera S, turbo etc...

Sounds too much like Panorama - way too serious for a Porsche.

No, I like the car. Looked great in the Magazine pictures.

Funnily enough though, my view on buying one has changed somewhat since getting my 911. To go from a 911 to a Panamera doesn't feel right - same as from a 911 to a Cayenne.

Can't justify having both - before anyone says it !

Wonder how many people have traded in their 911 to a Cayenne (as opposed to buying a Cayenne in addition to their 911) ?

As the wife keeps looking at CLS Mercs and 4 door massers I mentioned the 4 seater porker on the basis I will keep the MK2 GT3 purely for track days and the idea met with the thumbs up, so I have expressed my interest to Reading and I await further info.

Regards

Kevin

Good point Kevin
I am very interested to know more about the new Maserati, looks much more cohesive in design than the last one which I always thought was a little unresolved around the nose/headlights. Now the Panamera is soon to be on the scene, that will make choice a little more difficult!
Of course, another 911 might be on the cards, but I was very impressed with the sybaritic interior of the new Maser!
Decisions, decisions....I wonder if Porsche will finally wake up and offer 3 yrs warranty to compete with the likes of Maserati....that will be a factor for me to consider when it's time to change!

Deposits are not yet being taken as model info / launch dates have not yet been finalised, but your OPC may accept a letter of intent as your place in the queue...

Build slots will be offered to those that have sent in a letter of intent, however, it'll still come down to a first come first served basis (i.e. first deposit gets the first build slot)

I guess this is pretty much the same as when the Cayman & Cayenne were launched

Hello all, my first post on this site. Deposits are being accepted for the Panamera, by some OPC's at least. I put a £5k deposit down on a Panamera back in early January with my OPC. They have a number of letters of intent but the first allocation of cars will go to buyers with deposits down. The deposit is being held by PGB as normal. I'm number four on their "deposit placed" list so with a bit of luck will get one of their launch allocation cars. I'm about to buy a Cayenne S to replace a 955 V6 I've had for a couple of years and the plan is to trade the S in for the Panamera V8 when it arrives on the market(assuming that happens sometime in 09). I also have a few other Porsches including a 997TT.

Welcome isuk, nice first post.... [:D] nice selection of motors

I was asked when picking up my 997 in November if I wanted to place a deposit for the Panamera.. sadly not for me.. the two seats are fine.

Thanks Gary. I think my OPC and their parent group must love me as I've bought quite a few cars from various franchises of theirs [:D] I see you are a fellow TT owner. I bought mine in a moment of madness and took a spanking on the trade in value on my low miles/high spec C2S. I really should have learnt by now [8|] It's a fantastic car though and much, much better than the C2S so I don't regret it.

There is no firm date. My order says 2009 but my guess is that it will be late that year or perhaps even into 2010.

Will definitely need at least 1 change before the Panamera then...

I've had my Carrera S for 18 months, and I tend to change every 2½ to 3 years...

if the children were still teenagers....maybe a good option..but now they are off i love the cayman too much!suits my reclusive nature(so my daughter says!)

I've just got the one, and she's only 5 months old...

Planning on having another in the next 18 months, so the Panamera seems the perfect choice!

have fun!!
mine managed in the 911 till they were 8 and 6 then kicked the shit out of my back.....so you have a few yrs yet!!
enjoy it while it lasts!!

How long ! 2009 or 2010 !!

We'll be driving wind up cars by then. Made from sustainable materials, such as woven banana fibre. They'll be GPS monitored by the Department of Transport - zero tolerance on speeding; get caught and you'll get your carbon allowances chopped off.
