OK, suppose it was pretty obvious.
I wonder if JC, reportedly a bloke with a beard from long ago, would have been a lover of the 924/944 too?

Yup - Clarkson it was (Top Gear Aug 08 Page 54) ... a curious article, not least in his assertion that quote, "Show me someone in a 911, and I'll show you someone who was bullied at school." unquote. The assertion is - I venture to suggest - not exclusive in at least one context as I drive a 944 and I was bullied at school for a year or so (by some muppet by the name of Sadd - how appropriate!). There, I feel better now, 38 years of angst gone in a second; also, had I known, 38 years ago, at the tender age of 11 (when all I wanted was a Mini 1275 GT or, bizarrley, an Audi 100 Coupe) that, through the simple act of being beaten up on a regular basis I might stand a more than average chance of driving a 911 - then, clearly, I would have had some serious life choices to make! Not least, in not aspiring to be a 'cock' ... in that Clarkson also purports, in the same article, that, quote, "... the cocks have been through the BMW phase and are now tailgating your a*se with big, fast Audis" unquote. Well, I say - come to Belgium, where I live and work, where you can get tailgated anytime of the day or night, by anything at - honestly - any speed! Goede avond!
And strangely enough in several of his books/articles Clarkson says he was bullied at boarding school and credits it with devolping his story telling ability and need to make people laugh - yet he doesnt want a 911 [&:] ( he also points out that most of the bullies failed to do very well in later life )

I don't really trust Clarksons judgement of cars, but if a prominent figure in the media says something like this :-
"And then they fitted flared wheel arches and a new four-cylinder 2.5-litre engine to create the 944. I wanted one of those so much I ached. In fact, if I were to draw up a list of the 10 best cars I've ever driven, the 944 turbo would certainly be included. You can buy them these days for five grand."
It can't be a bad thing for the future of the 944, maybe lift it from the "banger" status it currently inhabits.
Someone in the media I do trust as he's a big fan of my two favourite cars and REALLY knows how to drive is Tiff Needell, and he's a huge fan of the Porsche 944 as well.
