OK, suppose it was pretty obvious.
I wonder if JC, reportedly a bloke with a beard from long ago, would have been a lover of the 924/944 too?
see http://www.topgear.com/content/features/stories/2008/08/stories/01/1.html for the article.

"And then they fitted flared wheel arches and a new four-cylinder 2.5-litre engine to create the 944. I wanted one of those so much I ached. In fact, if I were to draw up a list of the 10 best cars I've ever driven, the 944 turbo would certainly be included. You can buy them these days for five grand."
It can't be a bad thing for the future of the 944, maybe lift it from the "banger" status it currently inhabits.
Someone in the media I do trust as he's a big fan of my two favourite cars and REALLY knows how to drive is Tiff Needell, and he's a huge fan of the Porsche 944 as well.

Agreed.
He used to race them and had his own road car in which he drove to the meets.

I notice he said 944 Turbo, not S2. Hope Oli isn't reading this...
Yes indeed. Imagine how excited Clarkson would have been had he sampled an S2! His eulogy would have been never ending.
